About Hapag-Lloyd Cruises

If people are talking about perfection in cruising then Hapag-Lloyd simply has to be mentioned. The "Europa" and the "Europa 2" are the only cruise ships in the world classified with 5+ stars by the legendary Berlitz Cruise Guide. But outside German speaking countries Hapag-Lloyd Cruises is still an insder's tip. The reason is obvious: The only onboard language is German – with the exception of the new "Europa 2". By the way: it was Hapag-Lloyd who invented cruising as a way of spending holidays. And with their fascinating routings, their small ships and their perfect service the Hamburg based company is still one of the most interesting cruise lines in the world.

The Ship

Built in 1999 the Europa is often referred to as "the world's most beautiful yacht". For many consecutive years she was awarded "best cruise ship in the world" by the "Berlitz Cruise Guide". The vessel has a length of 199m and accomodates a maximum of 408 guests. A crew of 275 people is taking care of the guests' needs. Thanks to frequent refurbishments and modernizations the Europa is still state of the art.

Atmosphere on board

The Europa offers a classic, first class cruise experience. Though casual attire is perfect during the day formal dressing is recommended in the evenings. The design of the ship is classic, but not old fashioned and has got style instead of being pretentious.

Staterooms

All staterooms are categorized as "Suites" with at least 28 square meter. Private balconies start with 7 square meter. Guests get a personalized mail-account for the time on board which they can use for free from their suites. The tastefully decorated suites offer every amenity you would expect from a very good hotel – with the advantage of being taken to new places every day by the hotel.

Entertainment, Sports and Relaxation

Guests may enjoy lectures on the visited places, listen to great artists live on stage, relax in the Ocean Spa or take part in one of the fitness courses – but of course, it is not Europa's aim to be a "fun-ship". Her strong points are others.
